Transportation : Rise of the Hydrogen Cars

With the soaring price of petroleum and alarming state of global warming and pollution, countries around the world are racing to find alternative solution for the conventional vehicles used in streets today. Some of the technologies they rely to achieve these goal includes :

1.Hydrogen Fuel Cells.

2.Electric Cars running on batteries.

3.Solar Cars.

4.Compressed Air Cars.

5.BioFeul Cars.

Among these, Hydrogen technology have managed to surpass the others in terms of advancement and implementation. Many big car manufacturers like Honda & Toyota have already deployed Hydrogen Fuel Cell based test units on the streets. RiverSimple, another Hydrogen Fuel Cell car manufacturer went even 1 step ahead and released their “Riversimple urban car” design as Open Source, allowing entrepreneurs around the world to download the designs and manufacture the two-seater prototype locally for FREE !

i agree with you, Laura. hydrogen technology has been around for many years, since the appolo project where it was used to power the equipments in rockets. but only for the past few years the full potential of the technology is being uncovered. it would be great if more and more car manufacturers invest in this technology.

    cheers.

I think the open source idea is absolutely great. Different companies approach prototype testing different. GM for example lets people drive their hydrogen Equinox for free for several month in exchange for feedback. We had a chance to work on a production of the video manual for Equinox, which has been since released and can be found on http://www.HandBookLive.com under Automotive category.

The more companies get into hydrogen technology, the better it will be for the consumers.
