Nuclear Energy – Is it necessary?

July 27th, 2009 Madhavan R 1 comment

The need for electricity is growing day by day. And the soaring price of Petrol, Coal and Natural Gas have pushed many governments to look into the possibility of using Nuke Energy as an alternative. But is it necessary for them to rely on it ?

Some may think nuclear energy is a cost effective way of providing electricity to the mass. But the risks behind it is too huge.First of all is the disposal of radioactive waste. if it is not managed properly, it could endanger the environment and even people who live nearby.  Like any other power plants, nuclear reactors are also subject to malfunctions. If they are not handled properly it could lead to catastrophic events.

Yet, some countries may still proceed with the plan bearing in mind the risks involved. Why take the risk, when there are other ways to produce plenty of electricity without facing such big risks ?

Solar energy, for example is 1 of the most safest way of producing electricity. Imagine your house acting as a power plant on its own, supplying electricity to your while while you’re at work. Hooking up a solar panel grid tie system will not only reduce significant amount of electricity produced by conventional methods, but offers electricity to your house at almost no cost.

Substituting petrol, coal and natural gas to hydrogen is another alternative to producing electricity. Oil Platforms can be turned into Hydrogen Platforms whereby solar energy is used for electrolysis and the hydrogen is stored to be collected by tankers. Since there is plenty of seawater and sunlight available, the fuel source never depletes.

There are many other alternative ways of getting electricity, and Nuke Energy is not the only answer.

Windows 7 ready to hit the stores

All hail, Windows 7.

Windows 7 is the new range of operating system introduced by Microsoft. Said to be on store by Oct 22, 2009, Windows 7 aims to replace Windows Vista & the aging Windows XP.

Why should i bothered to upgrade, some may ask.

Windows XP has reached up to SP3 but still lacks behind in terms of certain technology (notably Direct X 10 for the gamers). but compared to other Windows operating system, Windows XP is by far the most stable operating system available in the market. And since it uses far less resource compared to Vista & Windows 7, it is still the most preferred operating system around.

Windows Vista on the other hand has just reached the SP2 mark, and seem to be doing much better than the time it was initially released.  Being a stable product added with whole lot of features not available in Windows XP, Windows Vista is worth the investment for anyone.

Windows 7 which suppose to be running on similar core to Windows Vista should be able to compete with both the products. Moreover, with the built in Windows XP mode, it should be able to get all your Windows XP application running seamlessly. Top it up with all the new features made available, and a nifty pricetag, Windows 7 is the way to go.
